I’m incredibly fortunate to be in a role that satisfies a couple of my personal interests: Supporting and advancing women and exploring this world of ours. I represent my company on the senior advisory board of GroYourBiz – an organization that creates peer mentoring opportunities for women entrepreneurs through advisory boards in cities across Canada (and growing into the US and UK as well!). Last weekend I participated in touring a few of the innovative member businesses in my home province on Vancouver Island in the small town of Sooke. It was a terrific experience to play tourist in my home stomping grounds of Vancouver Island.
The day started, waking up at the Prestige Oceanside Resort, watching the sunrise over the harbour with only a seagull and two seals for company. From there, my day kicked off with an impressive group of women entrepreneurs, exploring and learning something new.
Seaflora Skincare is an organic skincare line sourced from seaweed harvested from the waters off Vancouver Island and all harvesting and manufacturing of the end product is done right in Sooke. Tugwell Creek Honey Farm and Meadery is also a recommended experience. From farming the honey to creating mead from the honey, again the end to end process is completed on site..and what a beautiful site to tour.
