The TORONTO motorcycle show came and went last weekend but not without bringing a couple of milestones.
Tony upgraded to the 2019 version of the Tiger 1200, a completely loaded demo which he had been eyeing for a few months. Add an accessory package discount and it was too great a deal to resist. Tigger II has a lot of kilometres on him and it was time for him to find a new home in his later years. We now have Tigger III!
I also took the plunge and signed the papers on a 2019 Triumph Street Twin in Korosi Red. I added the touring package with top box, heated grips, big windscreen and a centre stand. Learning how to take it off the centre stand will be my new challenge, along with the significantly larger engine at 900 cc. Bee, my wee Honda CBR 125R, was a fun learning bike to zip around the city (and take a couple of little dead-stop spills). By the end of last year I was yearning for longer, bigger trips.
Tony is already planning trips with extra space for packing without the additional weight of me and my gear. I’m excited about getting the feel for some good riding in the countryside. There is a good chance I need to be in Calgary for work during Stampede for a women’s luncheon my program sponsors so I’m plotting a cross-country ride to get there and back. Because why not? Combining vacation and work travel made for some fun road trips in the past. This time, though, I’ll be on my own wheels instead of an active passenger (#nolongerpillion).
